Nice to meet you.

My name is Waka Tanaka, and I am a 23-year-old Japanese man.

I am planning to come to Canada on a one-year Working Holiday. For the first two months after I arrive, I plan to study at ISS Language & Career College and stay with a host family. After that, I have not decided where I will live yet, as I would like to choose based on the experiences I have during my first couple of months in Canada.

Of course, I want to improve my English, but I also hope to make many friends and experience things that I can only experience in Canada.

I have many hobbies. I enjoy listening to music, looking at art and anime, and experiencing different kinds of art. Recently, I also became interested in watching sports because of the FIFA World Cup. I also enjoy drinking, so if I have the chance, I would love to learn about Canadian drinks and culture from you.

One thing I should mention is that I can be a little picky about food, so I may cause you some inconvenience. However, I do not have any food allergies, and I would like to use this opportunity to gradually overcome my dislikes and try new foods.

I have practiced karate since I was very young. In high school, I became a national champion in Japan and was also selected for the Japanese national team. So if anything happens, I’ll protect your family… just kidding! (Haha.) I’m actually a very calm and gentle person, so please don’t worry.

I enjoy talking with people, trying new things, and learning about different cultures and ways of thinking. At the same time, I also enjoy having some quiet time by myself occasionally.

During my homestay, I hope to improve my everyday English through conversation. I would be very happy if we could spend time talking together. I also hope to learn not only English but also about Canadian culture and daily life.

If I accidentally do something inappropriate because I am unfamiliar with Canadian customs, manners, or your house rules, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I would like to learn from my mistakes and improve.
